The Government Multi Speciality Hospital (GMSH) in Sector-16 in the Indian city of Chandigarh, Punjab will now be an 'e-hospital' with the records of the patients in a digitalised way. Medical test reports and Out-Patient (OPD) registrations will be available on the patients' smartphones.
OPD is the first intermediary between a patient and the hospital staff. A patient is first taken to the OPD for inspection, then the doctors from the OPD refer them to the respective departments for treatment.
The unnecessary footfall might reduce as patients will get their medical test reports, make OPD registrations, book teleconsultation and avail of other facilities through their smartphones.
The hospital also plans to supply ten services to patients on their mobile phones. These also include clinic facilities, diet consultation, laboratory works, patient's admissions and discharge records, and treatment billing. The human resources, store inventory and radiology departments will also be digitised.
In June 2021, the hospital had adopted the e-Sanjeevani OPD platform, wherein patients were connected to doctors through telephones for consultations. Dr Suman, director of the health services in Chandigarh, said that from medical test reports to OPD registrations, every facility would be made available on patients' smartphones. The hospital already has some of the services online, so the hospital will be fully digitalised in a month.
The hospital has already started a new initiative under the national telemedicine service project in which specialist doctors can be consulted during teleconsultation. The patients are getting services for eight specialities, including medicine, general surgery, skin, psychiatry, eye, orthopaedics, and paediatrics.
