The National Information Technology Authority (NITA) Uganda announced that its second edition of e-Government Excellence Awards will be held on 10th December 2021. The awards will be under the theme ‘Bold digital government, embracing disruptive technologies’.
The aim of this award is to recognise government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) that have played a remarkable role in providing online government services to the public. It will bring together governments, investors, innovators, private sector players, entrepreneurs, ICT companies and scholars to reflect on the current and future state of Information Communication and Technology(ICT).
The program will begin on 1st December 2021 with e-Government Masterclass which is a two-day session, post which there will be an e-Government Expo held on 3rd December 2021. The programs will conclude with the e-government Excellence Awards and gala on the 10th December.
There are seven categories: CIO of the year, e-Service of the year, BPO/ITES Company of the year, Citizen’s choice of the year, Agency of the year, Private sector company of the year and the ICT Journalist of the year. The interested participants have been asked to register and express their interest through [email protected] before November 22nd 2021.
NITA also plans to hold an e-Government campaign to highlight the e-governance developments in Uganda in the final e-Government excellence gala. This is to share their experience with other government entities from across the country who are also focusing on the implementation of e-governance platforms.
The last year's event was a huge success with over 10 million reach, 9 million virtual views, 150 Government CIOs, 5000 physical participants and 40 exhibitors. NITA hopes for this event to be a success as well, as this will be the first large-scale post-pandemic event.
