Idaho Falls Best In Nation For Cybersecurity Jobs, Says Study

A study on best cities in America for information security professionals by national business resource firm AdvisorSmith says Idaho Falls tops the list in the best cities by size and second in the overall best cities category. The study indicates that Idaho Falls has over three times more jobs for IT security analysts than any other average U.S. city.

The major contributors to the IT-Centric job industry are employers like Idaho National Laboratory, managed by Battelle Energy Alliance for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy and Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC).

In the study, many factors like cost of living and lifestyle weighed on the ranking. With a significant focus in the industry on remote working arrangements and quality of life, Idaho Falls landed at the top of the analysis with a cost of living that is 7% lower than the national average.

Mandi Beard, the Director of EIRMC, said that today technology has integrated into the healthcare experience. The roles range from infrastructure operations to customer support and information security-enabled EIRMC to provide innovative and quality patient care. Idaho Falls has provided an educated and experienced IT force to meet EIRMC’s needs.

This could also be due to the focus on cybersecurity education in Idaho Falls through different programs at the College of Eastern Idaho (CEI). In September 2021, CEI’s Information Assurance & Cybersecurity Program received designation as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency.
