Utkal University in India, on 29th December 2021, launched an e-office under the 5T initiative of the state government to make office work paperless and transparent. It is the third institution under the higher education department to implement the e-office initiative.
E-office ensures that e-files are not misplaced like paper documents as the system records digital footprints making it difficult for anyone to tamper with the documents. The system will also ensure that the documents are not damaged and are stored safely.
According to Avaya Kumar Nayak, the Registrar of the University e-office has been very useful for remote work during the pandemic. He also added that it could help them achieve the 5T’s, i.e., transparency, technology, teamwork, time, and transformation.
Kavita Roy Das from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) said that the NIC has developed an e-office under the National e-Governance Plan initiated in 2009. It is being implemented through the Centre for Modernizing Government Initiative (CGMI), a society under the administrative control of the general administration and public grievances department of the Odisha government.
