The General Directorate of Traffic, Bahrain will introduce electronic driving license and car ownership cards via the etraffic smartphone app. The etraffic app would also facilitate the processing of traffic applications.
The digital driving license and car ownership card would replace the hard copy of the license and card as they would be displayed through the app.
The app will also allow issuing e-permit by car owners to allow other drivers to travel through the King Fahad Causeway in cooperation with Customs Affairs. The previous procedure was a written permit with a copy of the driver's ID and the ownership card of the vehicle. The car owners can also cancel the e-permits digitally.
This new digital service is a part of the government's effort towards digital transformation led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
