To reduce the cyber crimes in Chandigarh, India, the union territory administration has finalized a draft proposal for setting up a cyber security center. The Chandigarh Police is the nodal agency that will run and manage the center named ‘Centre for Cyber Security Operation (CenCOP).
The draft was discussed with the experts from Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on 4th January 2022. The union territory advisor Dharam Pal said that it was decided to prepare a final proposal for setting up the center and send it to the MHA for approval during the meeting.
Cyber security is one of the main challenges in the coming years, and the Chandigarh administration wants to lead the way in the region in meeting these new-age challenges. New strategies will also be devised to prepare for future challenges, apart from analysis and research. Pal said that the center is most likely to be established this year under police supervision. He added that anti-drone technology would also be a part of the proposed center.
