The Home Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, will be introducing an e-locker system that will optimally use big data to efficiently manage foreigners' entry into the country. The system will be used in the Peninsular, Sabah, and Sarawak.
When a foreigner enters the country, the e-locker will help ensure that the data on their documents is readily available for verification. E-locker would benefit the government, countries of origin, employers, and foreign workers to digitally access documents like visas, passports, employment contracts, and work passes.
The government also plans to restructure the Ministry's divisions and departments to empower the agencies involved. The agencies involved in restructuring this year are police, National Anti-Drug Agencies, Immigration department, and Easter Sabah Security Command.
While delivering his 2022 new year mandate speech at the Ministry's headquarters on January 13th, 2022, Hamzah added that the e-locker system has already been implemented in India and the United Emirates.
