The Australian government will be investing $37 million to support the construction of Blue Grass Solar Farm in Columboola, south east Queensland. The 200MV solar farm is the first Australian project of X-Elio and will be delivered through a partnership between Brookfield and KKR.
To support the government’s Low Emission Technology Statement priority for ultra-low-cost solar, the Blue Grass Solar Farm will include cutting-edge solar cell technology and bifacial solar panels to increase generation capacity and improve efficiency. It will also help reduce the cost of solar PV generation and produce cheap, clean energy required to generate hydrogen and low emission steel.
The Blue Grass Solar Farm will be built in the Darling Downs Renewable Energy Zone, 20 kilometers west of Chinchilla, where a coordinated development of new grid infrastructure will see multiple cost-effective and connected transmission lines and generators. The construction of this solar farm will help generate about 400 jobs in the region, creating employment opportunities.
