Delhi Police Launch AI-Based Language Tool

Delhi Police has launched a pilot project of a phonetic keyboard system with a Hindi voice typing facility in all the police stations of New Delhi and other North Districts in India. The new system is in the closed net of Crime Criminal and Networking System (CCTNS), on which all works of investigation from the lodging of FIR, writing care diaries, and submitting charge sheets are done across the country.

This newly developed procedure is Artificial Intelligence-based. A dictionary of traditional Hindi or Urdu words has been added to the system for the user's convenience. The system will add new words and store them in the database expanding its vocabulary to include all words and syntax used in police work.

This system will help Investigating officers (IO) to speak and record their work electronically in their local language, which is Hindi using a phonetic keyboard system. Until now, the IOs depended on Hindi typewriters or recorded Hindi conversations in English alphabets for all official works like writing FIR, case diaries, final reports, etc. The system did not accept Hindi words or sentences; they had to be written in English scripts.
