The Australian government is investing $451,000 through Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to support eleXsys Energy roll out next-generation technology that will help increase the amount of distributed energy resources like solar and electric vehicles that can be connected to the electricity grid.
This is in addition to the government's $3.5 million investment in the company under the Modern Manufacturing Initiative that has enabled the construction of a manufacturing facility that will fulfill demand in Australia and export markets. The eleXsys Energy Device regulates the voltage levels on power lines that help distributed energy resources continue supplying electricity to networks instead of being switched off or restricted.
The technology would allow clean energy manufacturers to feed more energy back into the existing electricity distribution grids. This demonstration project is expected to show the effectiveness of the technology through the installation of three inverters directly connected to Energy Queensland's Network, one device trialed behind a meter on a customer's premise, and one device installed in the Real Time Digital Simulator facility in Cairns. For now, the devices will be trialed on the Energy Queensland Network, but this technology can be applied to any low voltage area in Australia.
ARENA has supported over $100 million of distributed energy resource projects. It has established a Distributed Energy Integration Program (DEIP) that aims at maximizing the value of customers' distributed energy resources of all energy users.
