Ontario Court to Soon See Digital Transformation

The Ontario government on 5th November 2021, announced that they are currently in process of procuring a new courts digital transformation solution that will bring a foundational change in the legal system.

The Ministry of Attorney General is in the process of procuring this system but have not given out a timeline or price tag yet. Attorney General Doug Downey said that this system will change the legal system that is still stuck in the past. It will help deal with missing court paperwork, reduce time wasted in court to schedule trials and shorten the time taken to access court records.

The system would help lawyers and litigants save time and expense as they would not have to go to court to file documents or for scheduling. It would also make access to public records easier.

The chief justice of the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior court of justice has welcomed this move and said that the long awaited investment in the case management system would bring paper-based court systems into the 21st century.
