Kody Blois, Member of Parliament for Kings-Hants, on 8th February 2022, highlighted the support of nearly $810,000 for eight approved projects in Atlantic Canada under the Agricultural Clean Technology (ACT) Program. This fund will help farmers boost their long-term competitiveness and adapt to changing climate while cutting emissions.
The funding is focused on green energy and energy efficiency, precision agriculture, and bioeconomy. The project will support the installation of new solar panels on the roof of dairy barns and will produce approximately 170,000 kilowatts of solar energy every year to power the farm.
Under the ACT Program, the Adoption Stream supports the purchasing and installation of commercially available clean technologies and processes focusing on the technologies that show evidence of GHG emission and other environmental co-benefits.
Kody Blois said that in Atlantic Canada, the government works closely with farmers to develop and implement farming practices that help fight climate change and tackle greenhouse gas emissions. Through investments in local projects like Bokma Farms solar energy project, the government continues to help farmers transition to a low-carbon economy.
