China and Japan held deep discussions on the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the digital society and Artificial Intelligence (AI). They reached a consensus on relevant issues at the 17th Beijing-Tokyo sub-forum on the 26th of October.
It is not merely the development of digital technologies or products but to build off an ecological system of the digital economy. Experts explored solutions for the things that concern society by involving digital technology and AI. Some of them are care of the elderly, AI enabling climate change monitoring, tracking carbon footprint through AI technology, reducing energy consumption and integrating traditional energy with new technologies.
China and Japan face common challenges in education, medical care, senior care and other areas. As both the countries have the same cultural heritage and highly complementary technology on game development, they can cooperate within digital culture and digital economy. Thus, both countries can explore better services to the general public through AI technology.
Total global carbon emissions fell at a rate of 7% in the year 2020. AI suggests new things to resolve problems like reducing carbon emissions in cities, improving things in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic, reducing the power consumption of its data centres, and developing new computers. Online activities can significantly reduce carbon emissions while ensuring normal economic development.
